Have you ever been to the Charles River Natural Valley
Storage Area? Do you even know what/where it is? Being new to New England, I
had no idea what this natural area was when I was first asked to start
collecting information about this project.
In 1974, under the advice of CRWA, Congress authorized the
purchase of 8,500 acres of wetlands along the Charles River. The Charles River Natural Valley Storage Area
Project, undertaken by the US Army Corps of Engineers, not only protected 17
wetlands but also possible public and private property from flood damage.
If you interested in visiting and learning more about the area, please visit the US Army Corps of Engineers website or browse the map below (green areas indicating protected wetlands under the CR Natural Valley Storage Project).
